I'm wondering if there was any damage to the neighborhood from that severe lightning storm early this morning. It sounded as if it hit the ground many times.

Explaining to your 4 year old what "old man sounds" means early in the morning (when you're still creaking and groaning and waking up) is an interesting exercise. If you don't happen to know, 4 year olds want to know what everything you do means: every expression, every sound, every nuance. Try explaining that to someone. They happen much faster than you can explain, and before you know it you have to schedule a daily meeting to debrief your kid.? How did this happen? Hahaha.

So yes, it's true. My 5 year old daughter does seem to be fascinated with the Cinderella makeup tutorials on YouTube. She was wanting to watch them again today. "..but I want to know how to put on makeup for when I need it", she says. Jeeeez.

Family iDevices: Beware of The 'Automatic Downloads' Feature in iOS #iCloud #iDevice

Just today I decided to turn 'off' the Automatic Downloads feature in the AppStore setting on my iPad. We have a total of 5 iDevices in our family and although my partner, our daughter and I all have separate AppleIDs, many of my daughter's downloads from her iPod Touch are now winding up on my iPad 2. I think this has something to do with iCloud. She made these installs months ago, but just today they are winding up on my device. Why? These settings have been the same for months. My daughter and I's devices share the same credit card on our accounts although we have different AppleIDs.

Why is this happening? I'll have to check with my partner and see if our daughter's purchases are winding up on her devices, but I seriously doubt it since she has a different card associated with her account.

To me, this is just a wrinkle in the Auto-Backup feature in iCloud. My devices are set up to auto-backup to iCloud everyday, as well as wirelessly sync with iTunes (backed up to iCloud also) everyday. I am inclined to think that this will work itself out. For now, I have disabled the 'Automatic Downloads' feature for Apps in the AppStore settings on my iPad. I may do the same for my iPhone if I notice the same hanky-panky there as well. I have seen it as of yet, but I'll have to search around a little more to make sure.

Our 4 1/2 y.o. daughter likes to search the house for verboten booty if she happens to rouse b4 her mother & I. It's a waste of energy. She'll figure that out soon enough.

Yucca has been known as the "poor man's potato", but in this new age of dietary awareness it's more like the health-minded's 'smart choice' for a potato replacement. It has a low glycemic index as is thereby not a diabetic contributor in the diet. It's a 'win' on all counts. #paleodiet

@hboon yes, it is and it varies greatly depending on what you're asking the device to do. I think with all the hubbub that Apple will send out an update relatively quickly that may address a lot of the primary issues. They're usually pretty good about that, as you know. :)

@hboon it's much better now that I turned off location services for apps that don't 'need' it. Also, location-based reminders obviously suck battery life. Certainly it's not as good as iPhone 4. Seems to be a consensus that if you happen to have any 'corrupted' Contacts in your Address book that when you Link to iCloud, it will continuously sync contacts ad infinitum, so that'll kill battery 4 sure.

@hboon how's that new iPhone 4S for you? I haven't really had any 'issues' of any significance personally. I think for such a Large Release on many levels that A did pretty well!

I set up this little blog so that I would have an outlet to express some of my experiences along the way. I'm a first timer, as they say, so all this is new to me. I'll share my thoughts, feelings, and perspectives on the wide new world of Daddyville...
...Hang On as we laugh, cry, and wince together....I'm sure the experienced fathers will do most of the laughing...they've earned it, right? You bet they have!
The 'Cruising the Stratosphere' blog I set up as a catch all for other random ponderings, journal entries, and segues that do not necessarily have to do with parental experience or point of view.
'Twitter Twaddle' was added as a posting catch all for random non-related posts or web content that I found amusing or interesting in some way. Thanks for Reading.
